Day-by-day itinerary
- Day 1
Meet your driver in Bukhara at 9:00 a.m., after breakfast, and travel to Majrum. Arrive around lunchtime and settle into a local guesthouse.
In the afternoon, explore the village with a local mountain guide. Visit the ruins of a mosque in an abandoned settlement and an ancient Oriental biota estimated by researchers to be more than 1,500 years old. Local tradition links this remarkable landmark with Alexander the Great.
Overnight: Majrum.
- Day 2
Set out on foot from Majrum toward Hayat. The trail reveals the everyday life of mountain communities, the spare beauty of the surrounding ranges and broad views across the Kyzylkum desert-steppe.
Overnight: local stay in Hayat.
- Day 3
Meet your guide at 9:00 a.m. and hike toward Ukhum to see ancient petroglyphs, village ruins and traditional house architecture. The supplied walking distance for this day is 13 km / 8 miles.
After returning to the Hayat guesthouse for a short rest, visit the Nurata nature-reserve area to look for Severtsov’s argali, a rare mountain sheep. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

- Day 4
Follow a mountain path from Hayat toward Asraf through Ukhum. Pass riverside homes and climb to viewpoints over the Kyzylkum desert-steppe and Lake Aydar before reaching Asraf around lunchtime.
After lunch, relax in the garden on a tapchan, a traditional raised outdoor platform. Later, walk through the village and visit nearby petroglyphs.
Overnight: local stay in Asraf.
- Day 5
Leave Asraf on foot at 9:00 a.m. and follow a mountain trail toward Eski Forish, with elevated views of the villages and Lake Aydar along the way.
Arrive around lunchtime. After lunch, continue by road to Samarkand, where the tour concludes.
